Mamadou Diallo

Mamadou Diallo was a dominant offensive force during his short time in Major League Soccer.

The Senegalese forward burst onto the MLS scene in 2000 when he signed with the Tampa Bay Mutiny. Due in large part to his great connection with midfield maestro Carlos Valderrama, Diallo struck 26 times in 2000, earning himself the league scoring title and a spot on MLS’s Best XI squad.

He spent two years with the Mutiny before the franchise was contracted, and tallied 35 goals in just 50 appearances. Diallo was picked up by the New England Revolution in 2002 during the MLS Allocation Draft, but only spent a brief time there. He made 7 appearances for the Revs and scored once, but was traded to the Metrostars in the middle of that season.

In what became his final year in Major League Soccer, Diallo finished off the 2002 campaign in tremendous form. He scored 11 times for New York in 17 games, including a four-goal game against the Los Angeles Galaxy in just his second match with his new team.

Diallo did not return to the league following the 2002 season, after a transaction with Al-Ahli sent Diallo to Saudi Arabia.

OTHER:

In addition to his three season in MLS, Diallo spent time with various clubs across the globe. He played for teams in his native Senegal, Morocco, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Mali, Germany, Turkey, Sweden, and Norway.

Diallo was also a staple on the Senegalese National Team from 1994-2000. He suited up 46 times for his home country and netted 21 goals.
