MLS Highlights

2008: Trained with the Galaxy at the end of the 2008 MLS season and then joined the club for their postseason friendly against the Oceania All-Stars on December 6. He played the final 11 minutes of that game after replacing David Beckham.

2007: Joined the Crew following the USL season but did not appear in any games.

2006: Appeared in six league games in his final season with the Chicago Fire, making four starts. He also started two U.S. Open Cup games as the Fire went on to defeat the Galaxy in the Open Cup Final.

2005: Appeared in just three league games, making two starts and was forced to miss much of the season with a series of injuries, two of which forced him to undergo surgery.

2004: Was drafted by Chicago in the second round (11th overall) of the 2004 MLS SuperDraft out of UCLA. He appeared in nine games under Fire head coach Dave Sarachan, making three starts. He made his MLS debut on 4/10 when he started and played 74 minutes in a 0-0 draw with San Jose. He made his professional debut on 3/17 when he came off the bench against San Juan Jabloteh in the CONCACAF Champions Cup. He started the second leg of the Fire’s quarterfinal series against Saprissa, a game which the Fire won 2-1.

USL First Division Highlights

2008: He played in 29 games for the Timbers in 2008, making 28 starts. His 2,324 minutes played were the third most on the team as the Timbers finished the season with a 7-13-10 record. 2007: Appeared in and started 27 games for the Portland Timbers alongside Galaxy teammates Bryan Jordan and Josh Wicks. He scored his first career goal for the Timbers in a 2-0 win over Rochester on 5/13 and then scored again in a 2-1 loss to the same club on 6/9.

Has represented the United States at the U-17, U-18 and U-20 levels.

Personal

Griffin is the son of Horace and Maxine Griffin and has two brothers, Elliot and Maxwell, and a sister Angela. He played for Clint Greenwood at Santa Anita Soccer Club and Eric Stanford at Littlerock High School. Griffin enjoys art, movies, reading and playing Pro Evolution Soccer.
