2008: Signed with the Wizards in April after an impressive open tryout performance where he beat out over 200 other participants from 15 countries. Came on late in the season after suffering a sprained MCL at the midpoint to be a major contributor in his first MLS season. Played in 7 MLS games (4 starts), recording 1 goal. Made professional debut against Los Angeles Galaxy and boyhood hero David Beckham on September 13. Scored 1st MLS goal three minutes after entering 9/20 win vs. TFC.
COLLEGE:
Played 3 seasons at Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa. In those 3 years, Souter was named first-team All-Region each season and helped Graceland to an NAIA National Championship in 2006. Souter was named second-team All-American as a junior. Scored 28 goals and recorded 32 assists in 54 career games.
YOUTH:
Played youth soccer for Scottish power Aberdeen Football Club for 4 years
PERSONAL:
Got engaged to fiancée Calea in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico in November 2008. She is a P.E./Health teacher and enjoys coaching soccer. Souter has a younger brother named Craig, and in his free time Souter enjoys watching Lost, The Office, and playing Wii. He also wants to learn how to play the guitar and use Rosetta Stone to learn Spanish to better communicate with some of his teammates. Souter has never seen the Loch Ness Monster, he does not play the bagpipes, but he does own a kilt and he enjoys one of Scotland's fine delicacies: Haggis. Someday he would like to travel the world and run marathons with Calea. He has also played under the instruction of Aberdeen hero Drew Jarvie and former Scotland International player Duncan Shearer.
