Ortiz, 28, is a veteran of 241 Colombian first-division matches. He began his career in 2008 with Independiente Medellín, the same club that FC Dallas head coach Oscar Pareja started out with in 1987. Ortiz appeared in 108 matches for Medellín from 2008 to 2010. The midfielder transferred to Millonarios in 2011 and played 109 matches before being loaned to Atletico Huila ahead of the 2015 season. Ortiz added another 24 matches to his resume in 2015, playing alongside former FC Dallas star David Ferreira.
