John Obi Mikel

John Obi Mikel is a veteran defensive midfielder who has appeared in over 200 league games for Chelsea since signing with the club in 2006. He has registered over 50 caps for the Super Eagles and scored a goal against Uruguay at the 2013 Confederations Cup.

NIGERIAN NATIONAL TEAM

Obi Mikel did not make the trip to the 2010 World Cup with the Super Eagles due to injury. He made six appearances during this cycle of World Cup qualifying.

CLUB CAREER

A product of Plateau United's youth academy, Obi Mikel started his professional career with Lyn in Norway before arriving in London. He has made at least 20 appearances in each of the last eight seasons with Chelsea, helping them win the Premier League in 2009-10 and the Champions League in 2011-12.
