Wijnaldum is an experienced left back who should battle with Fabinho for playing time along the backline for the Union in 2017.

INTERNATIONAL: A Netherlands youth international, Wijnaldum has appeared for the Dutch Under-17s, 19s and 20s over his career. He scored his first international goal on June 1, 2012 in a friendly against France’s U-20s.

OUTSIDE MLS: Wijnaldum has made 65 appearances in the Dutch first division Eredivisie and helped AZ capture the 2012-13 Dutch Cup, starting the final and playing all 90 minutes in the victory. He most recently played for German 2. Bundesliga side VfL Bochum.
