Charlotte FC announced the signing of Canadian winger Brandon Cambridge on Dec. 21, 2022. Cambridge was acquired via trade with the Vancouver Whitecaps in exchange for General Allocation Money (GAM).
In 2024, Cambridge made five matches off the bench with the First Team and made four appearances with Crown Legacy FC, where he netted two goals and added one assist.
Cambridge made his MLS debut as a substitute against Real Salt Lake on April 8, 2023, and would go on to make 13 total First Team appearances in his rookie season. In just his fourth MLS appearance, Cambridge secured a brace, his first two professional goals, off the bench to lead Charlotte FC to victory over the New England Revolution. His performance earned him Player of the Matchday honors for Matchday 13.
Prior to joining CLTFC, Cambridge had a three-year collegiate career at the University of Portland, where he made 42 appearances and scored 16 goals while adding 13 assists. In 2022, Cambridge was named the WCC Offensive Player of the Year, the first Pilot to win the award.
2024 (Charlotte FC): MLS Regular Season – Appeared in four matches, totaling 27 minutes off the bench. Leagues Cup – Appeared in one match off the bench against the Philadelphia Union. (Crown Legacy FC): MLS NEXT Pro Regular Season – Made two starts and appearances, scoring two goals and adding one assist. MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs – Played in both of the Club’s playoff matches, totaling 210 minutes.
2023 (Charlotte FC): MLS Regular Season – Appeared in nine matches as a substitute totaling 128 minutes. Made his First Team debut as a substitute against Real Salt Lake on April 8. Named MLS Player of the Matchday for Matchday 13 after scoring a brace against Chicago Fire FC in a 2-1 victory. Leagues Cup – Appeared in two matches as a substitute, totaling 12 minutes. U.S. Open Cup – Played in two matches, recording an assist against South Georgia Tormenta FC. (Crown Legacy FC): MLS NEXT Pro Regular Season – Made 10 appearances, all of which being starts, scoring four goals and adding four assists. Scored in his professional debut against Huntsville City FC on March 26. MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs – Started and played 90 minutes in the Club’s opening round matchup against Columbus Crew 2.
