Career Summary

Chivas USA signed academy defender Andrew Ribeiro from the Rojiblancos’ Under-23 team. Before joining the Red-and-White organization, the defender was a key member of USL PRO side and Philadelphia Union affiliate, the Harrisburg City Islanders.

The 23-year-old right-footed defender was a standout on the U23s back line, appearing in 14 games in the Coast Soccer League. Ribeiro also displayed his ability to punish opponents in the attacking third, as he contributed with three goals during the Academy squad’s run to defend their state title.

The six-foot right back joined the Red-and-White in October 2013 after his stint with the Islanders, where he was instrumental in leading the team to the playoffs with 24 appearances and 1,672 minutes logged. Although the Wisconsin native was drafted by the New York Red Bulls out of Creighton University in the 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft, Ribeiro opted to instead pursue his opportunity with the Pennsylvania side.

At Creighton, Ribeiro was named the 2012 Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year after starting every contest for the Bluejays during his senior year. He also claimed an All-MVC First Team selection and earned MVC All-Tournament Team honors after scoring the game-winning goal against Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in the MVC Tournament Championship.
