A three-time MLS Cup Winner, Saunders joins Orlando City SC after serving as the starting goalkeeper for NYCFC over the past two seasons. Saunders led the league in saves in 2015 and started all 10 playoff games during the LA Galaxy's run of back-to-back MLS Cup victories in 2012 and 2013. He should serve as a backup to Joe Bendik in 2017.
INTERNATIONAL: Has two caps for the Puerto Rico National Team. Played full 90 minutes in a pair of shutout wins over Bermuda in January 2008. Made eight saves in the two matches, which were the first back-to-back wins for Puerto Rico since 1993.
OUTSIDE MLS: Before he found success in MLS, Saunders was one of the better goalkeepers in the lower divisions of US Professional soccer, including time spent with Portland, Puerto Rico, and Miami FC.
COLLEGE: Split his career between Cal State-Fullerton and the University of California, spending his first two years at Fullerton before transferring north to Berkeley. Two-year starter at Cal, earning First Team All-Pac 10 honors in each of his seasons with the Bears. As a senior in 2002, named the Pac 10 Player of the Year, becoming the first goalkeeper ever to win that award.
