2020 (Philadelphia): Fontana has made 17 appearances (five starts) for the Union at central midfield scoring six goals... Scored a brace in a match winning performance in a 2-1 home win against the New England Revolution (September 12) ... Added another goal in his next match in a 4-1 road win over the Montreal Impact (September 20)...made his second career start against Inter Miami CF (September 27) and scored the game-winner for his fourth goal of the season...scored his fifth of the season against D.C. 2019 (Philadelphia/Bethlehem): Fontana has made eight appearances for the Union, recording one goal and one assist ... came on as a substitute vs. Columbus (March 23) for his season debut ... missed the stretch of matches from at Vancouver (April 27) through vs. New England (May 4) after being listed as questionable with a left ankle sprain ... registered his first MLS assist with a game-tying helper in the 90th minute vs. Orlando (July 7) ... scored his first regular-season goal of the season with an insurance tally vs. Chicago (July 20) ... made one appearance in the Open Cup, coming on as a substitute and scoring a goal in the Fourth Round match at D.C. United (June 12) ... for Bethlehem, Fontana has made 14 appearances (14 starts), recording one assist ... notched an assist on Faris' opening goal vs. New York Red Bulls II (July 10).
2018 (Philadelphia/Bethlehem): Fontana made five regular-season appearances (one start) at central attacking midfield, scoring one goal. He scored his first career goal in his MLS and club debut with the game-winning tally vs. New England (March 3). He started the 2018 MLS Homegrown Game (July 31). In October, he was named to the U.S. U-20 roster for the 2018 Concacaf U-20 Championship. In the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, Fontana made one appearance (one start) at central attacking midfield. He scored the club's third goal as part of a 5-0 Fourth Round win over Richmond (June 5). For Bethlehem Steel FC, Fontana made 15 regular-season appearances (15 starts), with nine appearances at central attacking midfield and six at central midfield. In total, he notched one goal and one assist for Steel FC, assisting on Cory Burke's goal vs. FC Cincinnati (April 15), and scoring at New York Red Bulls II (July 18). He also started in the postseason-clinching win over Tampa Bay (October 14) and started Steel FC's postseason match at Pittsburgh (October 20).
2017 (Philadelphia/Bethlehem): Fontana officially signed with the Union on July 17, 2017, with his deal taking effect on January 1, 2018. Hee appeared for the Union First Team in the friendly against Swansea City (July 14), playing 14 minutes in a substitute's role. Additionally, Fontana made 11 appearances for Bethlehem Steel FC (seven starts).
2016 (Bethlehem): Prior to signing as a professional, Fontana made eight appearances for Steel FC in their inaugural 2016 campaign.
INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE
Fontana received his first call-up at the Under-20 level by the United States on December 29, 2017, joining the side for first ever U.S. Soccer Men’s YNT Summit Camp, running from Jan. 2-11 in Lakewood Ranch, Florida. He was again called up by the U-20s in September 2018 ahead of the Four Team International Tournament, but could not join the side due to injury. He received his third call-up of the year from the U-20s in late October ahead of the 2018 Concacaf U-20 Championship, a tournament which he helped the U.S. win. He started the U.S.'s second game, scoring one goal in a 13-0 win over the U.S. Virgin Islands (November 3). He followed that up with a hat trick (plus one assist) in the team's fourth game, a 6-0 win over Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (November 7).
Previously, Fontana was called into United States Youth National Team camps with the U-18s, most recently at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California. He has appeared in friendlies for the U.S. U-18s.
YOUTH EXPERIENCE
A Union Academy graduate, he also previously played for Penn Fusion, West Chester, and Kirkwood SC in his youth.
