Wizards lose Wahl in Expansion Draft

Seattle Sounders FC selected defender Tyson Wahl from the Kansas City Wizards Wednesday in the expansion draft that will help stock Seattle's 2009 MLS roster. Sounders FC, who will become the 15th team in MLS next season, picked ten players Wednesday from existing MLS teams. Wahl, 24, played 32 games (26 starts) for Kansas City over three seasons in MLS. He played 16 games (all starts) for the Wizards during the regular season in 2008 and started both MLS Cup Playoff matches.

Kansas City also announced Wednesday that it has waived forwards Ryan Pore and Ivan Trujillo and midfielder Carlos Marinelli. Pore, a three-year MLS veteran, scored three goals and added two assists in 58 career games for the Wizards. Marinelli joined Kansas City before the 2007 season and scored one goal with eight assists in 41 games. Trujillo signed before the 2008 season and scored one goal in 17 games.
