It looks like Kevin Molino's time with Minnesota United has come to an end.
The winger posted on Instagram a goodbye to Minnesota, thanking everyone at the club as he moves onto a new chapter.
A source told MLSsoccer.com Molino and his representative haven't notified the club that they've rejected the contract offer yet. Head coach Adrian Heath noted last week the Loons offered Molino the maximum amount the club could offer.
“The offer is there for Kev," Heath told media. "It’s the max deal he can get in America, so we can’t do an awful lot (more). We’re hoping. I get it if he wants to see what’s out there, I understand, but we’re hoping he accepts and decides to come back. … If he doesn’t, nothing we can do about that and it’s the player’s prerogative.”
Molino, 30, enjoyed perhaps his best ever season in MLS with nine goals and four assists in 1,264 minutes. He kept form in the playoffs, with four goals in three appearances.
He has 32 goals and 27 assists in 104 MLS appearances between stints with Orlando City and Minnesota. Molino suffered ACL injuries to both knees, first in 2015 with the Lions and then with the Loons early in the 2018 season.
