GALAXY HIT THE ROAD FOR CRUCAL STRETCH:
The Los Angeles Galaxy take to the road for an important two game road trip, highlighted by key Western Conference match-ups with the Houston Dynamo on Wednesday, August 9 and then against Colorado on Saturday, August 12. The Galaxy look for its first victory ever in Houston on August 9 vs. the second place Dynamo in a game that will be played at Reliant Stadium as the first game of a doubleheader featuring Spanish club FC Barcelona and Mexican team Club America. The Galaxy-Dynamo match will be broadcast live on FSN West, CA$H 1700 AM and KXME 830 AM at 5:00 p.m. On Saturday, August 12, the Galaxy returns to Colorado in an important battle for playoff positioning against the Rapids. The game will also be broadcast live on FSN West, CA$H 1700 AM and KXME 830 AM at 6:00 p.m.
DONOVAN TO HIGHLIGHT GALAXY FANTASY CAMP II ON AUGUST 14: The Los Angeles Galaxy's second Fantasy Camp of the year will be held from August 14 - 18 at the home of the Galaxy, The Home Depot Center. This unbelievable experience for children ages 8-14 includes five days of training and learning what it is like to be a Galaxy player with a superb cast of coaches and guests. Joining our coaching staff this year will be Galaxy and US National team superstar Landon Donovan. Donovan will personally demonstrate his goal scoring skills, sign autographs and take pictures with the campers that week. Also demonstrating will be President and General Manager Alexi Lalas and other Galaxy coaches, players and alumni. Every camper will come away with many new ideas, skills and drills and will understand the importance of having fun every time they step on the field. DONOVAN TO THROW A STRIKE ON TUESDAY: Galaxy forward Landon Donovan and Houston Dynamo forward Brian Ching will throw out the first pitch on Tuesday, August 8 prior to the Houston Astros game against the Pittsburgh Pirates at 5:05 PT. Donovan and Ching were both members of the 2006 United States World Cup team. Donovan played every minute of all three U.S. matches at the World Cup and is currently the Galaxy's leading scorer with four goals and four assists.
GEAR UP FOR THE GALAXY ALUMNI GAME ON AUGUST 20: Galaxy fans, get ready to celebrate the history of the most storied team in Major League Soccer on Saturday, August 20 as the legendary Galaxy alumni will face off against Hollywood United prior to the Galaxy's MLS regular season match vs. FC Dallas. Galaxy President and General Manager Alexi Lalas, legends such as Mauricio Cienfuegos, Paul Caligiuri and Robin Fraser will participate, as will former Galaxy player and current Santa Ana Junior College head coach Jose Vasquez.
ALBRIGHT AN ALL-STAR: Galaxy defender Chris Albright started the Sierra Mist All-Star Game on Saturday, August 5 at Toyota Park in Chicago against legendary English club Chelsea F.C. In his third straight All-Star Game appearance, Albright played the first 45 minutes of the match before exiting at halftime.
YALLOP AND LALAS ATTEND CHELSEA TRAINING, MEET MOURINHO: On Tuesday, August 1 Chelsea FC continued its preseason training and preparations for the Sierra Mist All-Star Game with a practice session on the campus of UCLA. L.A. Galaxy President and General Manager Alexi Lalas and head coach Frank Yallop were there to observe the training, and afterwards met with legendary Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho. Yallop presented the Chelsea coach with his very own Galaxy jersey, and Mourinho gave Yallop a blue Chelsea uniform top before posing for pictures and speaking with the numerous media members there to watch the training.
GALAXY ADVANCE IN U.S. OPEN CUP: Behind a goal from Quavas Kirk and Alan Gordon, the defending U.S. Open Cup champions, Los Angeles Galaxy downed FC Roma from Dallas 2-0 in the fourth round of the tournament on Monday, August 1, to advance into the quarterfinals. Before a crowd of 4,937 at the Home Depot Track & Field Complex, the Galaxy defeated the surprising USASA squad and will now face the Colorado Rapids on August 23 at The Home Depot Center.
GORDON ON LOAN TO PORTLAND: Galaxy forward Alan Gordon, who has appeared in six games this season for L.A., is on loan to the Portland Timbers of the USL First Division for the remainder of the Timbers season. Gordon started and played 90 minutes for the Timbers in a 1-0 loss to Minnesota on August 4. Gordon previously played for the Timbers in 2004 and scored 17 goals in 27 games with Portland. The Timbers regular season runs through September 7.
FIRST GOAL FOR Q: Galaxy midfielder Quavas Kirk recorded his first professional goal when he found the back of the net in the 33rd minute on August 1 in a 2-0 victory over Roma FC in the U.S. Open Cup. Just 18, the second year player has appeared in a career high 10 MLS games in 2006, starting seven and registering one assist.

BE A PART OF THE GALAXY SCHOOL SUPPLIES DRIVE: As part of the Galaxy Drive Series, the Los Angeles Galaxy will host a school supplies drive on Sunday, August 20 at the Galaxy-FC Dallas game at The Home Depot Center. The Galaxy are asking all fans to bring new school supplies valued at $5 or a $5 donation. All school supplies will go to School On Wheels. School on Wheels focuses on the enhancement of educational opportunities for homeless children from kindergarten through twelfth grade. The goal of the organization is to shrink the gaps in the education of these children and provide them with the highest education possible by offering services, which include one-on-one tutoring, contributions of backpacks and school supplies, assistance in entering school and parent guidance in educational matters for their children. All fans who participate in the Galaxy school supplies drive will receive a Galaxy Drive Series Voucher for $5.00 off the gate price of a Galaxy ticket for select games and be entered into a drawing for a soccer ball signed by members of the 2006 Galaxy team.
