WEDNESDAY SHOWDOWN IN TORONTO FOR UNDEFEATED CHIVAS USA: Chivas USA takes its unbeaten record on the road with a match this Wednesday, April 22, playing Toronto FC at BMO Field in Toronto. The Red-and-White have the best record in the league at 4-0-1 (W-L-T) with 13 points, and take on Toronto FC, who are 1-2-2, with 5 points. The match will be broadcast live on W Radio 690 AM in Los Angeles, and will be available on television via the Direct Kick package or online at MLSnet.com's Match Center. Chivas USA holds a 4-0-0 record all-time against Toronto FC, who entered MLS as an expansion team in 2007.
RED-AND-WHITE EXTEND LEAD ATOP MLS WITH 2-0 WIN OVER SEATTLE SOUNDERS FC: An first-half own-goal from Sounders defender James Riley and a late goal from rookie Chukwudi Chijindu gave Chivas USA a 2-0 win over second-place Seattle Sounders FC on Saturday night at The Home Depot Center. The first goal came in minute 32 when Sacha Kljestan played a give-and-go with forward Eduardo Lillingston, then slotted a through ball for Jonathan Bornstein, whose low cross was deflected into the net by Riley. The game remained close until the 84th minute, when Chijindu, who entered as a second-half sub for Lillingston and was making his second MLS appearance, toe-poked a cross from Bojan Stepanovic into the lower corner of the net for the 2-0 lead. Zach Thornton earned his third shutout of the season in net for the Red-and-White, who improve to 4-0-1 (W-L-T) with the win.
CHIVAS USA TO HOLD 'SANGRE NUEVA' YOUTH TEAM TRYOUT ON APRIL 24 IN SANTA ANA: Chivas USA's Youth Teams will hold an open tryout on Friday, April 24, at 5:00 p.m. PT at Centennial Park in Santa Ana for players born from 1991 to1996. On hand will be Chivas USA Youth Team coaches, as well as special guest José Luis Real, the Youth Development Director for Chivas de Guadalajara. Spot are limited and cost $30, and advance registration is available via e-mail, fax, or mail after downloading the registration form at cdchivasusa.com. Players will be trying out for the Chivas USA Under-18, Under-16, and Under-14 Teams, which are funded fully by the club and are free of cost to players on the teams. CRUZ AZUL UNDER-8 FROM SAN FERNANDO VALLEY IN THIS WEEK'S YOUTH SOCCER SPOTLIGHT: For Chivas USA's game this Saturday against FC Dallas, the Youth Soccer Spotlight will highlight the Cruz Azul Under-8 Team from the San Fernando Valley, led by coach José Lopez. The Youth Soccer Spotlight is a program that debuted earlier this year and features a local soccer team or club at every home game for the Red-and-White this season. The team will be highlighted on Chivas USA broadcasts, as well as on the field prior to the game, and will even get the chance to have a team photo on the Red-and-White's bench. LINCOLN HIGH SCHOOL IS SATURDAY'S BAND OF THE GAME: Chivas USA will feature one local band at each of its home games in 2009, and at the match on April 18, students from the Lincoln High School Band will perform before and during the match. Also being honored on Saturday night as Chivas USA's Schools of the Game are Webster Middle School, Bell Gardens High School, and Paramount High School, who will have students in attendance at the game.

CHIVAS USA LAUNCHES SOCIAL NETWORKING SITE AT MYCHIVASUSA.COM: Chivas USA launched MyChivasUSA.com on Monday, a social networking site designed for fans of the Red-and-White. The social network was created using the Ning platform, and allows fans to customize a profile, set up blogs, add photos and videos, send messages and chat, track matches they've attended, and much more. Several Chivas USA players, including Jonathan Bornstein and Alecko Eskandarian, as well as members of the ChivaGirls, have already set up profiles on the page. CHIVAS USA U-16 TEAM TOPS ARSENAL FC, U-18'S EARN DRAW; MINI CLÁSICO NEXT: The Chivas USA Development Academy Teams went undefeated this weekend against Arsenal FC in matches played at UC Riverside, with the U-16's earning a 2-1 victory and the U-18's playing to a 1-1 draw. Up next is the Mini Clásico against the LA Galaxy U-18 and U-16 teams, with the matches kicking off at almost the same time in different locations. The U-16's will start at 2:00 p.m. PT on University Field 2 at The Home Depot Center, while the U-18's kick off at 2:15 p.m. at Cerritos College. CHIVAS DE GUADALAJARA UPDATE: Chivas de Guadalajara earned a 1-0 win in one of the biggest matches of the year, a Clásico against Club América at the Estadio Jalisco in Guadalajara, thanks to a 68th minute header from Sergio Amaury Ponce. The win came in the first match for new head coach Francisco Ramirez, and moves the team ahead of América and into second place in Group 2 of the Mexican First Division with a record of 5-5-4 (W-L-T), good for 19 points. Guadalajara now travels to face Pumas next Sunday, April 26.
