Etihad Airways MLS Player of the Month (May 2014)
May 2014 Etihad Airways MLS Player of the Month nominees:

Dom Dwyer, Sporting KC. A busy month — 7 games — saw Dwyer score 6 goals and become a major contender in the Budweiser Golden Boot race. He's currently second in the league in goals, one behind New York's Bradley Wright-Phillips. However, Sporting struggled to capitalize on Dwyer's form, going only 2-3-2 in the month.

Fabian Espindola, D.C. United: Arguably frontrunner for MVP of the league at this point, Espindola is nominated for the second month in a row. In May, the Argentine attacker started 5 of 6 matches for United, scored three goals and 2 assists, and helped the club post a 3-2-1 record, pushing them up to 2nd place in the East.

Diego Fagundez, New England Revolution. In 5 games in May, Fagundez scored four goals and posted two assists as the Revs went on a point-gobbling tear. Fagundez, with major help from rookie Patrick Mullins and playmaker Lee Nguyen, helped the side post a 4-1-0 record in May, which put them on top of the Eastern Conference.

Obafemi Martins, Seattle Sounders. Snubbed by the Nigerian World Cup team, Martins maintained his torrid form, scoring three goals and adding two assists as the Sounders went 4-1-1 in May. As much a playmaker as a scorer these days, Martins helped Seattle extend their lead at the top of the Supporters Shield standings.

Javier Morales, Real Salt Lake. After a slow start to the season, the Argentine playmaker exploded in May, posting 4 goals and 3 assists as RSL tied a league record for consecutive matches unbeaten to start a season. In the month, RSL went 3-1-1, and despite some major absences, proved they are serious challengers to the Western Conference.
