Vancouver Whitecaps signed two more players from their USL side on Monday, bringing goalkeeper Spencer Richey and forward Kyle Greig into the senior side.
Each was signed on a one-year deal, with successive one-year options through 2020.
Richey led Whitecaps 2 with eight wins, 57 saves, and a 0.704 save percentage in 17 starts in net in 2016, including playoffs. He also made two starts in goal for the senior side, winning both, as Vancouver went 4-0-0 in CONCACAF Champions League group play to reach next year's quarterfinal round.
Greig made four starts for the senior squad last season, with one assist in CCL play. In USL action, he led Vancouver with 13 goals across all competitions and also had three assists to help Whitecaps 2 reach the Western Conference title game.
"Kyle and Spencer have both worked exceptionally hard to earn their opportunities with the first team," said Whitecaps head coach Carl Robinson in a team statement. "Their mentality and work rate have been excellent, and will serve them well as they continue to progress."
