Vancouver Whitecaps Reyna, Techera unlikely to start Leg 2 vs. Sounders

It sounds like Vancouver Whitecaps attackers Yordy Reyna and Cristian Techera will start on the bench for Leg 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals at the Seattle Sounders on Thursday night (10:30pm ET | FS1, FOX Deportes; TSN5, TVAS).

Two of the Whitecaps’ most talented attackers, both Reyna and Techera picked up minor injuries in Vancouver’s Audi 2017 MLS Cup Playoffs Knockout Round win against San Jose last Wednesday. Both came off the bench in the first leg of the series vs. Seattle on Sunday, with Reyna playing 28 minutes and Techera going 14 in the scoreless draw at BC Place.

“Obviously Yordy and [Techera] are different types of players would bring us something different, but If I had to hazard a guess at the moment, I would say they probably won’t play because they’re not fit,” said Vancouver head coach Carl Robinson on Monday.

Despite missing the first half of the year due to injury, Reyna finished the regular season with 6 goals and 4 assists in 18 appearances -- only 11 of which were starts. Techera had 6 goals and 7 assists in 29 regular-season appearances.
