The second of six Cascadia Cup clashes is set for BC Place Friday night, as the Vancouver Whitecaps are set to host the Portland Timbers.
The Whitecaps (2-5-3), who battled the Seattle Sounders to a 0-0 draw in the first Cascadia Cup match of the 2019 season, are coming off a 3-2 win over the Colorado Rapids, with Andy Rose scoring the late winner. The 'Caps have just one loss in their last five games.
The Timbers (3-5-1) have shored up their defense and won their last three games, including a 2-1 victory over Real Salt Lake last Saturday. Diego Valeri netted the decisive goal after Sam Johnson canceled out Sebastian Blanco's opening strike.
Vancouver won the last meeting between the rivals, with Alphonso Davies scoring a brace in a 2-1 Decision Day presented by AT&T meeting.
