Sorry Sevilla suffered a fitting end to a miserable week on Sunday as they threw away a two-goal lead to lose at lowly Real Valladolid.
Valladolid substitute Fabian Canobbio was his side's hero with a second-half brace, but it was the 34th-minute dismissal of Sevilla striker Luis Fabiano that was key to the encounter.
Sevilla were leading 2-0 through goals from Renato and Jesus Navas when Brazil international Luis Fabiano received his second yellow card for diving inside the area.
That gave Valladolid an unexpected lifeline and they duly took it, pulling a goal back just before half-time through Jonathan Sesma before Canobbio took centre stage with goals in the 51st and 64th minutes.
Valladolid were then able to hold out for only their third league win of the season, leaving Sevilla to wonder how they could have imploded so spectacularly over the last eight days.
Sevilla started the week unbeaten in any match in six months but, after suffering shock defeats to Malaga in La Liga and then third division Ponferradina in the Copa del Rey, they began Sunday's match hoping to avoid a hat-trick of losses.
With 24 minutes on the clock at the Estadio Jose Zorrilla they looked certain to achieve that.
Renato, who scored both goals as Sevilla beat Valladolid 2-0 at home last season, opening the scoring in the 18th minute following a rapid counter-attack.
Four Sevilla players broke the Valladolid offside trap and Renato had the simplest of tasks to slot home when Navas drew goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo before passing inside to his team-mate.
The Andalusian side then doubled their lead six minutes later through a brilliant goal from winger Navas, who leapt in the air to send a spectacular volley past Asenjo from an Enzo Maresca cross.
Life looked rosy for Manolo Jimenez's side at that point, but it was all to turn sour - starting with the dismissal of prolific hitman Luis Fabiano, who was shown a second yellow for going down to easily as he attempted to round Asenjo.
Valladolid, who had lost five of their opening eight league games but thrashed Hercules 5-1 in the cup in midweek, started their fightback in the 44th minute when Sesma headed home Haris Medunjanin's left-wing cross.
Canobbio was then introduced at the break and he needed just six minutes to make his mark after the ball fell kindly to him inside the box.
Sevilla goalkeeper Andres Palop was already committed to trying to save Medunjanin's initial effort from the edge of the area, so when the blocked shot fell to Canobbio he had virtually an open net to aim for.
There was nothing straightforward about the effort that won Valladolid the points though, with Canobbio scoring a brilliant free-kick in the 63rd minute.
Standing some 25 yards out from goal, the Uruguayan midfielder curled a superb free-kick into the top corner via the underside of the crossbar, leaving Palop with no chance.
That goal came after Asenjo had done well to deny Navas and Ndri Romaric at the other end, but the 10 men of Sevilla could not find it in themselves to create many decent chances after falling behind as they slumped to another defeat.
