Weston McKennie’s fine form from the weekend when he was arguably Schalke 04’s man of the match in a Bundesliga draw against Leverkusen continued Wednesday with a goal against Eintracht Frankfurt.
The young US men’s national team midfielder pulled Schalke back a goal just before the hour mark, rising up to latch onto an Alessandro Schöpf free kick and head back across the goal inside the far post.
It was the second goal in three weeks for the FC Dallas academy talent, who has three of Schalke’s five goals since March.
McKennie's goal cut Schalke's deficit to 2-1, but the visitors couldn't find an equalizer, finishing with 10 men after Cam Bozdogan was sent off in the 77th minute.
