Former US men’s national team defender Eric Lichaj is looking for a new team as Hull City announced Tuesday the club will not retain their captain, whose contract expires at the end of June.

The 31-year-old will not play in the club’s final nine games of the 2020 season. Out of contract, Lichaj could compete in the MLS is Back Tournament if he's signed by an MLS team.

Lichaj has not featured for Hull City since tearing ankle ligaments in a match against Reading in February.

The Downers Grove, Illinois native competed for Chicago Fire FC youth and PDL sides before signing with Aston Villa in the Premier League.

He competed for Lincoln City, Leyton Orient and Leeds United in loan stints before 173 appearances for Nottingham Forest from 2013-18. Lichaj signed a two-year deal with Hull City on June 22, 2018 and made 70 appearances for the Tigers.

Lichaj has been capped 16 times by the USMNT, last stepping on the field in a 1-0 international friendly win over Mexico in 2018.
