The US men’s national team will face a stern test in their buildup to the CONCACAF playoff for the Confederations Cup this fall, with U.S. Soccer announcing on Thursday that the USMNT will host Brazil in an international friendly on September 8 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.
The match will come four days after the US takes on Peru in a friendly at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C. on September 4. The Brazil match will kick off at 8 pm ET and will be broadcast live on an ESPN network, UniMás and UDN.
The USMNT and Brazil have met a total of 17 times, with the US holding a 1-16-0 all-time record against the Seleção. Brazil won last meeting between the sides, handling the Americans 4-1 on May 30, 2012 at FedEx Field in Landover, Md.
Following Wednesday's shocking Gold Cup semifinal defeat to Jamaica, the US will next take the field in Saturday's third-place match against Panama at PPL Park. The Americans will face the winner of Sunday’s Gold Cup final between Mexico and Jamaica in a one-game playoff for a berth in the 2017 Confederations Cup this fall, likely in October.
