It seems the National Soccer Hall of Fame has found a new home.
After months of rumors, FC Dallas and U.S. Soccer announced on Wednesday that they will unveil plans to move the National Soccer Hall of Fame to Frisco, Texas and for improvements to Toyota Stadium in a press conference on Oct. 14. The news comes five years after the Oneonta, NY location of the Hall of Fame shut its doors.
The Frisco Independent School District voted to approve an amendment to the Toyota Stadium lease agreement between Frisco Stadium, LLC, and the City of Frisco on Tuesday night, granting the final of four approvals needed from the city for the project to move forward.
The FISD approval was the final step in a year-long effort to upgrade the 10-year-old stadium and move the National Soccer Hall of Fame Museum to Frisco. The Frisco Community Development Corporation, Frisco Economic Development Corporation and Frisco City Council also voted to approve the amendment.
