US Soccer announces locations of three critical USMNT matches

Jozy Altidore - US national team - October 14, 2014

US Soccer announced on Tuesday that the US menā€™s national team will play three major matches in Frisco, Texas, Kansas City, Kansas and Jacksonville, Florida in the coming months.

The USMNT will play two pre-Copa AmĆ©rica friendlies in May, hosting Ecuador at FC Dallasā€™ Toyota Stadium on Wednesday, May 25 (8 pm ET; TV TBD) before playing Bolivia at Sporting Kansas Cityā€™s Childrenā€™s Mercy Park on Saturday, May 28 (8 pm ET; FS1, Univision networks).

The USMNT will begin the one-off tournament on Friday, June 3 against Colombia at Leviā€™s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

The US will conclude the semifinal round of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying at EverBank Field in Jacksonville against Trinidad and Tobago on Tuesday, Sept. 6.

The significance of the Trinidad and Tobago match will depend greatly on the result of Tuesdayā€™s US-Guatemala match (7 pm ET; ESPN2, UniMas, UDN). The US, who lost 2-0 at Guatemala on Friday, need to avoid a loss in Columbus on Tuesday in order to keep their qualifying hopes alive.

Jacksonville last hosted the USMNT in June 2014, when a crowd of 52,033 filled EverBank Field for the Americansā€™ 2-1 friendly win over Nigeria ahead of that summerā€™s World Cup.

The US will play at St. Vincent and the Grenadines on Sept. 2 before concluding the semifinal round of qualifying against the Soca Warriors
