US Soccer's updated look doesn't just include the national team crest – the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup now has a new crest, too.
The US Open Cup revealed its new logo on Tuesday, doing away with the old one that incorporated design elements of US Soccer's now-defunct crest. The new Open Cup logo borrows the shape of the new US Soccer crest for its own crest on the left below:
The Open Cup competition – which includes not just MLS clubs, but ones from all levels of American soccer, including USL, NASL and PDL – will kick off in May with the first round of games. Those initial match-ups will be drawn and announced on Wednesday.
MLS teams will enter the competition in the fourth round beginning in June.
