Is US national team striker Bobby Wood on track to rise to the bright lights of the Bundesliga?
According to a report out of the German tabloid Bild, Wood has attracted some high-priced interest from Hamburger SV.
This latest report of HSV's interest is hardly a surprise given the 23-year-old's recent form; he's scored 17 goals for Union Berlin in 29 appearances in the German second division this season. The most notable part is his rumored value to HSV: 3 million Euros, equivalent to about $3.5 million.
It's not the first time Wood has been linked to Hamburg. Several weeks ago the striker downplayed rumors connecting him to the ambitious but lately underperforming club, telling reporters his focus remained on Union Berlin.
Whether he heads to HSV or elsewhere, it seems like only a matter of time before Wood is scooped up by a more prominent club. Last month, Wood set a new scoring record as the top single-season scorer for an American in Germany's top two leagues.
