US men's national team 40-man provisional roster for 2019 Gold Cup

The provisional US men's national team 40-man Gold Cup roster has been released, with 24 MLSers picked for training camp. Final 23-man rosters for the Gold Cup are due on June 6. 

Prior to kicking off Group D play against Guyana on June 18, the USMNT will play friendlies against Jamaica (June 5) and Venezuela (June 9). Trinidad and Tobago and Panama join the US and Guyana in the group.

Columbus Crew SC, Atlanta United and LAFC are responsible for the joint-most players on the squad with three each. Toronto FC and Seattle Sounders have had two players called while NYCFC, FC Dallas, San Jose Earthquakes, LA Galaxy, New York Red Bulls, Colorado Rapids, D.C. United, Montreal Impact, Chicago Fire, Real Salt Lake and FC Cincinnati are sending one each.

European based stars Christian Pulisic, Weston McKennie, Tyler Adams and others have been called. Tyler Boyd, who was approved by FIFA for a one-time switch of association from New Zealand over the weekend, is eligible for the US national team for the first time and is included on the preliminary roster.

The US national team prepares for their first competitive matches since their fateful day against Trinidad and Tobago in October, 2017. From that squad, eight players have been called into the preliminary Gold Cup squad. Jozy Altidore hasn't made an appearance for his country since. 

Fullback DeAndre Yedlin will miss the tournament with a groin injury, suffered while playing with Newcastle.
