United players to visit Armed Forces' bases

D.C. United's Marc Burch and Devon McTavish will head to the Pacific to take part in the MLS Soccer Stars tour presented by Armed Forces Entertainment. The tour lasts from December 2-13 and the United stars will join Houston Dynamo players Mike Chabala and Bobby Boswell, a former Black-and-Red standout. "We are very excited to once again be invited on this tour," said United's Director of Community Relations Aprile Pritchet. "It gives D.C. United an opportunity to say thank you to the men and women who have volunteered to serve and protect our freedom and our country."


The group will be doing clinics for kids and adults at Hickam Air Force Base, Pearl Harbor, Kaneohe Marine Corps Base, and NMRF Barking Sands Navy Base in Hawaii. They will then travel internationally to host clinics in Kwajalein and Guam before returning home.


Founded in 1951, Armed Forces Entertainment provides the best in up-and-coming American entertainment to US troops and family members stationed overseas, with priority to remote and isolated locations, ships at sea, and contingency operations. Entertainment is provided to the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard. The full itinerary for D.C. United's Armed Forces Entertainment tour is as follows:


Dec. 2: Depart Washington for Hawaii
Dec. 3: Clinic at Hickam Air Force Base
Dec. 4: Clinic at Pearl Harbor
Dec. 5: Clinic at Kaneohe Marine Corps Base
Dec. 6: Clinic at NMRF Barking Sands Navy Base
Dec. 7: Travel to Kwajalein
Dec. 8-9: Clinic at Kwajalein
Dec. 10: Travel to Guam
Dec. 11: Clinic at Anderson Air Force Base
Dec. 12: Clinic at Navy Base
Dec. 13: Depart Guam, Arrive in Washington
