The Philadelphia Union faithful have been eagerly awaiting a showcase signing, a breakout acquisition that can lead the club back to the postseason after a down year in 2017.
David Accam could well prove to be just the sort of impactful player they need.
The Ghanaian winger joined the Union via a blockbuster trade with Chicago on Friday, and two days later a throng of Union fans turned up at the Philadelphia International Airport to welcome their newest star to the City of Brotherly Love.
Within moments of clearing security, Accam was embraced by his countryman, fellow Right to Dream product and new teammate Josh Yaro, draped in a Union scarf by a member of the Sons of Ben supporters group and serenaded with chants and applause.
Only time (and match action) will tell whether Accam is the missing link for Philly, but his Union career is off to an auspicious start.
