Transfer Watch: Genoa's Marco Borriello becomes the latest overseas player linked to MLS

As European league seasons wind down, the transfer rumor mill is heating up with a handful of players based overseas being linked to MLS.

Genoa FC’s Marco Borriello could be on the move at the conclusion of the recent Serie A season, with his one-year deal with the Ligurian side set to expire. Italian soccer transfer experts GianlucaDimarzio.com reports that an MLS club has shown interest in the former AC Milan and Roma striker, who has been in prime form in his third stint with the Rossoblu in their push toward Europa League qualification.

Over in England, the Daily Mail claims that Wigan's James McClean has flown to New York to meet with the Red Bulls. But the outlet also reports that Orlando City SC have shown interest in the Irish international winger, who is also reportedly drawing interest from Newcastle.

McClean, who has one year left on his deal, is apparently eyeing a move following Wigan’s second relegation in three years, having dropped from the Championship to League One this season.

Flamengo midfielder Thomas Jaguaribe is said to be close to a deal with the Seattle Sounders, according to a number of reports including from the blog SounderAtHeart.com, which cited a since-deleted tweet from the player at Seattle’s training facility. The former Brazilian youth international, who was linked to AS Roma a year ago, hasn’t made much of an impact since signing with Flamengo in 2011.
