Two teams looking to climb above the Eastern Conference playoff line clash Saturday night as Toronto FC host Orlando City SC at BMO Field.
Sitting one spot below the playoff line, one point behind seventh-place New England, Toronto FC (9-10-5) will look to rebound from a 2-0 road defeat to the New York Red Bulls last Saturday. The Reds opened defense of their Canadian Championship title with a 2-0 win over host Ottawa Fury FC in the opening leg of the semifinals Wednesday night on goals by Drew Moor and Tsubasa Endoh in each half.
Orlando City SC (8-11-5) are three points behind Toronto FC following a 2-0 home win over FC Dallas last Saturday. Tesho Akindele struck in the first half and Carlos Ascues closed the door in second-half stoppage time. A bitter 2-0 defeat to rival Atlanta United in the US Open Cup semifinals at Exploria Stadium followed Wednesday night.
This is the second meeting this season, with Toronto FC claiming a 2-0 road win in May on second-half goals by Jonathan Osorio and Jay Chapman 12 minutes apart.
