For the second time in as many years, Toronto FC are about to open the doors to their refurnished home.
The second part of a two-phase renovation project at BMO Field is complete, and Toronto FC will play their first game of the season there on Saturday when they host FC Dallas (7:30 pm ET, MLS Live). The Canadian club and its fans are bubbling with excitement over their much-anticipated home opener, especially since TFC went a respectable 3-3-2 on the road at the start of the year to sit in third place in the Eastern Conference.
"We're excited to be back home in front of our fans at BMO Field,” right back Steven Beitashour told reporters on Tuesday. "With the renovations and playing under the lights it's going to be amazing. I can't wait to be on the field.”
Toronto FC, which went 11-5-1 at BMO Field last year, are likely pinning for their first 2016 home game after suffering a 2-1 loss to the Portland Timbers on Sunday. They are hoping to not only bounce back, but seize the moment after spending the first two months of the season as road warriors.
