Toni set to debut for Bayern Munich

Italy striker Luca Toni is set to make his first appearance for Bayern Munich this season in Saturday's Bundesliga clash with Borussia Dortmund.

The 31-year-old missed all of pre-season due to a calf strain while a tooth problem forced him to sit out last Friday night's Bundesliga opener with Hamburg.

However, Bayern coach Jurgen Klinsmann believes he will be fit to give him a further option in attack at the Westfalen Stadion at the weekend.

"Things are looking good with Luca," he told the club's website, www.fcbayern.de. "We hope he is back on Saturday because that puts things in a different light for us."

Such was the shortage of forwards fit for the clash against Hamburg that Klinsmann was forced to give a debut to youngster Thomas Muller.

However, the treatment room is slowly emptying with Franck Ribery the next player set to check out, and Klinsmann cannot wait to have the France international available again.

"He can start with light running at the weekend," he continued. "We miss the presence of people like him because their presence alone is enough to earn respect from the opposition.

"Still, we will have to do the best we can with the situation."

Tim Borowski, who came on as a second-half substitute last weekend, is also nearing full fitness, but Klinsmann is without much of his squad who are on international duty this week and will only return on Thursday.
