Tim Cahill's brace for New York Red Bulls sees him claim MLS Player of the Week for Week 9

Tim Cahill celebrates a goal against Toronto FC

Tim Cahill's brace this past weekend not only ended his well-documented drought and earned the New York Red Bulls a road win in the process. It also won him his first MLS Player of the Week award.

Cahill was voted the Week 9 winner after his two-goal performance in the Red Bulls' 2-1 win over Toronto FC at BMO Field on Saturday.

The Australian Designated Player first found the back of the net in the 40th minute with a one-timed effort and he nailed a late winner with one his trademark headers shortly after TFC looked to have secured a draw. See how the North American Soccer Reporters voted here.

The two goals were Cahill's firsts of the season and made him the first Red Bulls player to take the honors in 2013.
