Nice to have you back.
Danny Koevermans celebrated his return to Toronto FC's starting lineup after more than a month on Saturday by scoring a brace to lead his club to a 2-1 home defeat of the defending MLS Cup champion Colorado Rapids. The performance earned him Player of the Week honors for Week 27 as voted by the North American Soccer Reporters.
Both goals came in a nine-minute span of the second half and the Designated Player showed a striker's instincts on each strike. The 32-year-old knocked home a low cross from Ashtone Morgan from the left side in the 52nd minute and then headed in a curling delivery from Nick Soolsma in the 60th minute.
With the brace, Koevermans has netted a total of six goals in seven matches since signing with TFC just before the open of the summer transfer window.
The Dutchman becomes the second TFC player to earn Player of the Week honors after Joao Plata (Week 8).
