Three teams are new to the adidas family this season. Los Angeles and MetroStars were with Nike last year, while the Chicago Fire were contracted to Puma. The other nine teams all received new designs and all 12 teams will maintain these uniform designs for the next two years.

Adidas also debuted the new MLS ball, named the +teamgeist to foster the adidas theme of the entire team being required to win championships, that will also be the ball used at the World Cup this summer in Germany. MLS is the first league in the world to use the new ball.
