Gojko Kacar scored two minutes from full-time to give Hertha Berlin victory over Stuttgart and lift them up to fourth in the Bundesliga table.
Maximilian Nicu's opener after 29 minutes had been canceled out by Cacau, but Kacar's late strike sealed a third win in four games for the capital club and leave them two points behind leaders Hoffenheim.
Stuttgart, who have now not won in Berlin for 12 games, missed a chance to pull even with the leaders and slipped to sixth, on 13 points, one point worse off than Hertha.
The home side were playing without top striker Marko Pantelic, who was suspended by coach Lucien Favre after over-sleeping and arriving late for a training session during the week.
Favre took the measure even though Hertha had never won without Pantelic, who has played with the club since August 2005.
Neither team were at their best early on and when the opening goal came, after 29 minutes, it arrived following a counter-attack.
Arne Friedrich sent a perfect long through-ball from Hertha's defensive half into the path of a charging Raffael, who ran at Stuttgart keeper Jens Lehmann before, at the final moment, crossing to Nicu who blasted into the top-half of the goal for the 1-0 lead.
Stuttgart were now on the back foot and were happy to see Raffael's crisp volley from 20 yards sail just past the right-hand post with the first-half almost over.
Stuttgart drew level six minutes after the interval when Pavel Pardo struck a high ball into the area where Mario Gomez leaped highest to head towards the left post where Cacau was stationed to score.
Cacau nearly put his side ahead in the 79th but he slipped as he shot from close range, resulting in the ball going over the crossbar. Berlin were living dangerously and three minutes later the score remained deadlocked only by the width of the post as Gomez hit the woodwork with a shot.
Stuttgart remained the better team but it was Berlin who grabbed the lead with three minutes to play. Nicu sent a diagonal ball to Kacar who turned quickly before shooting past Lehmann into the far left-hand corner.
