D.C. United announced today midfielder Dan Stratford had successful knee surgery on Monday morning. The partial meniscectomy and plica removal on Stratford's left knee was performed by Dr. Kevin Sumida of Commonwealth Orthopeadics at the Virginia Hospital Center. The 23-year old will take three to four weeks to recover.

"We're pleased with the result of Dan's surgery and look forward to seeing him progress as a professional soccer player," said United General Manager Dave Kasper.

Stratford was acquired in the second round (24th overall) of the 2008 MLS Supplemental Draft on January 24. During his rookie season, the midfielder has seen 81 minutes of playing time in five games (one start) with the first team. He has also contributed to United's reserve squad, tallying one goal in six games for the Black-and-Red.
