He might have been making his Major League Soccer debut, but Sporting Kansas City Homegrown goalkeeper Jon Kempin made the most of it, coming up with one brilliant penalty-kick save that earned the 21-year-old the Save of the Week for Week 22.
Kempin earned 39.53% of the fan vote for his save on Vancouver's Darren Mattocks, edging out Real Salt Lake's Nick Rimando, whose reflex save on D.C. United's Eddie Johnson garnered 31.24% of the vote. Rimando, though, did set a new record for career shutouts in MLS with the 3-0 win over United.
Kempin is the second Sporting KC goalkeeper to win SOTW this year, after Eric Kronbergwon it in Week 9.
