Sporting Kansas City were in such a good mood after winning their first game of the season on Saturday that they decided to re-enact a blast from the past.
Following the 1-0 win over New York City FC at Yankee Stadium on Saturday, Sporting KC players Matt Besler, Seth Sinovic and Benny Feilhaber all re-enacted a famous Kansas City Royals incident that happened at the home of the 27-time MLB champions.
The Kansas City trio decided to act out the scenes of the 1983 Pine Tar Game in which George Brett infamously hit a two-run homer in the ninth inning to give the Royals a 5-4 lead before umpires ruled he had too much pine tar on his bat. As you can imagine, Brett was irate with the call (WATCH here).
Besler served as the fuming Brett in the re-enactment, and posted a video shortly thereafter on his Instagram account. Needless to say, it's worth watching, especially if you remember the original pinetar incident from more than three decades ago.
