The Seattle Sounders' nine-game win streak is nearing historic heights.
After drawing Atlanta United1-1 on the road on July 15, the Sounders have won every game since. Following a 2-1 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps Saturday night at BC Place, they've leveled the longest winning streak the league has seen since the turn of the millennium when Sporting Kansas City won nine consecutive matches between the end of 2011 and the start of 2012.
The Sounders have a long way to go until touching the league's all-time record, set by the LA Galaxy in 1997-98 when they won 15 on the bounce. Here are some of the teams that the Sounders are brushing shoulders with in MLS folklore.
Club | Streak | Start | Stop |

Chicago Fire | 11 | May 1998 | July 1998 |
D.C. United | 11 | July 1999 | Sept. 1999 |

Seattle Sounders FC | 9 | July 2018 | Active |
Columbus Crew SC | 8 | August 1996 | Sept. 1996 |
Throughout the streak, the Sounders have scored 21 goals and conceded just five. In those nine games, Nicolas Lodeiro has scored five goals and added four assists while playing every minute. Raul Ruidiaz has five goals and an assist and Cristian Roldan has chipped in with two goals and two assists.
After the Sounders successfully navigated their Cascadia Cup match with a win Saturday, they now face the Philadelphia Union home on Wednesday. It is the last team they play who currently sits above the playoff line.
