Atlanta United beat the New England Revolution1-0 in Round One in the Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs. But the result wasn't without a little controversy.
In the 43rd minute, Josef Martinez attempted to collect a Franco Escobar pullback, but Revs goalkeeper Matt Turner got there around the same time. The replays did not appear definitive and the on-field decision by Kevin Stott held up: No penalty. Martinez was shown a yellow card for simulation.
In the second half, Atlanta had a second shout for a penalty. Andrew Farrell made a last-ditch tackle to stop Ezequiel Barco in the box. There appeared to be some contact, but Stott did not opt to point to the spot.
