TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Waived
The Seattle Sounders parted company with one of their showcase offseason signings on Friday, waiving Norwegian midfielder Magnus Wolff Eikrem.
Eikrem, who turns 28 next month, made 17 appearances across all competitions (15 in MLS play), tallying one goal and one assist in league play and scoring once in Concacaf Champions League.
“We would like to thank Magnus for his contributions to our club this season and wish him the best as he embarks on the next step in his career,” said Sounders GM and President of Soccer Garth Lagerwey in a club statement.
Dubbed “The Wolff” by Sounders fans, Eikrem signed with the Rave Green on January 30 via the use of Targeted Allocation Money after playing out his previous contract with Swedish side Malmo. He showed well in his early appearances for Seattle, but started just one match since the end of May.
