The Seattle Sounders announced on Wednesday that they have installed new artificial turf at CenturyLink Field.
The FieldTurf Revolution 360 surface replaces the FieldTurf surface that had been installed in 2016, the year the Sounders won MLS Cup. The performance metrics for multi-sport activity are unprecedented, according to a Sounders release, and the design is intended to cut down on the risk and severity of injuries.

"Because of our strong partnerships with the Seattle Seahawks, First & Goal Inc. and FieldTurf, we are pleased to announce this new surface for our players half a season ahead of schedule," said Sounders FC owner Adrian Hanauer in a team statement. "The close relationships between all four organizations allow for this type of proactive collaboration, and we are excited for our players to take the field on their new surface this weekend. FieldTurf is a global leader in this space, and we are proud to have played on their surfaces for all 11 of our MLS seasons."
