2019 MLS Regular Season – Week 28
Seattle Sounders FC vs. New York Red Bulls
CenturyLink Field – Seattle
September 15 – 6:00 PM ET
STREAMING: MLS LIVE on ESPN+ in US, on DAZN in Canada
The Seattle Sounders will look to hold off challengers and remain in second place in the Western Conference when they host a New York Red Bulls side trying to bounce back from consecutive defeats and move up the table in the East on Sunday at CenturyLink Field.
The shorthanded Sounders (13-9-7) had a three-match unbeaten streak snapped with a 2-0 loss at the Colorado Rapids Saturday night. With numerous regulars away during the international window, Seattle had five starters either new to the team or used sparingly this season. Rookie Andre Shinyashiki scored a goal in each half to lead Colorado to a second straight 2-0 victory.
The Rapids' first 2-0 win came against the New York Red Bulls (12-12-5) Aug. 31, the club's fifth home defeat of the season and second consecutive loss. The Red Bulls were punished for not taking a bevy of first-half chances and Jonathan Lewis scored both goals, while Tim Howard made three saves to earn his fourth clean sheet in his final game in his home state.
