Schalke wasted a chance to move into the top three in the Bundesliga, managing only a scoreless draw at home against 10-man Arminia Bielefeld.
Bielefeld played the final half hour a man down after Jonas Kamper was sent off after picking up his second booking in the 60th minute.
Schalke have now collected only three points in their last four games, leaving them fifth - four points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen.
Bielefeld have not won on their travels in their last 21 games.
Schalke started in aggressive fashion and Bielefeld keeper Dennis Eilhoff did well to stop Jermaine Jones' strike in the second minute. Ivan Rakitic went just wide two minutes later.
Bielefeld weathered the initial Schalke storm and solidified themselves in their newly-formed four man back line. Schalke keeper Manuel Neuer, meanwhile, was forced to parry Kamper's blast from the right side after nine minutes.
Bielefeld missed a fine chance to grab the lead on the half-hour mark. Markus Schuler crossed into the box from the left side but Artur Wichniarek directed his header from four yards just over the crossbar from the right side.
Schalke missed a golden opportunity of their own just four minutes later as Kevin Kuranyi blasted his header off the post.
Kamper pushed down the right wing five minutes after the break but the Dane could only hit the side netting.
And Kamper was sent from the pitch after seeing a second yellow on the hour mark after a tackle on Rafinha.
Schalke pushed forward against the deep Bielefeld backline but could not find a way through.
Jefferson Farfan had one final chance with four minutes left, dribbling across the area away from three Bielefeld defenders but he could not beat Eilhoff from 10 yards.
