Two multi-time MLS Save of the Week award winners from 2015 are running neck and neck for Week 30 honors.
Real Salt Lake’s Nick Rimando is leading the way for the moment, garnering 39.02 percent of the vote as of Thursday afternoon for his diving save to deny what appeared to be a sure Chris Wondolowski goal on Sunday. It would be Rimando’s fourth such award of the season should he hang on to the lead.
But nipping at Rimando’s heels is Montreal Impact’s Evan Bush, who has 34.65 percent of the vote for his game-saving stop on the Chicago Fire’s Jeff Larentowicz in his team’s 2-1 midweek win.
With Rimando and Bush drawing a bulk of the vote, the three other nominees have some work to do.
New York City FC’s Josh Saunders (12.52%), Houston Dynamo’s Tyler Deric (10.77%) and Chicago Fire’s Jon Busch (3.03%) round out the top five.
Can Rimando hang on for the win, or can Bush mount a last-minute comeback? Vote now – the winner will be announced on Friday.
Voting runs until 11:59 pm PT on Thursdays. For complete coverage of the MLS Save of the Week award – including an archive of all of this season’s nominees and winners – click here.
