It was close. As close as it gets. But San Jose Earthquakes striker Chris Wondolowski edged Sporting KC’s Aurelien Collin by one vote to take the honor of being named the MLS Player of the Month for April.
The Player of the Month is voted on by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR).
Other players receiving first-place votes include D.C. United’s Maicon Santos, New York’s Thierry Henry, and Houston’s Will Bruin.
In April, “Wondo” scored four goals and posted two assists as the Quakes racked up a 3-0-1 record for the month and shot up to top spot in the Western Conference. He now has 8 goals on the season, and sits in second place in the Golden Boot race, behind Henry.
