The San Jose Earthquakes are looking to stay hot and win their fifth game in a row and sixth in their last seven when they face a Columbus Crew SC side that have won back-to-back games and are unbeaten in their last three.
The Earthquakes (11-7-4) moved up to fourth in the Western Conference with a 3-1 win over the Colorado Rapids last Saturday at Avaya Stadium. Following an own goal by Lalas Abubakar in the 2nd minute, Vako continued his torrid pace with his sixth goal in his last seven games. Shea Salinas tacked on an insurance goal in the 83rd minute before Diego Rubio scored Colorado's first goal two minutes from full time.
After nearly three months without a win, Crew SC (7-14-3) have made it back-to-back victories, defeating the New York Red Bulls, 3-2, on the road last Saturday night. One minute after Brian White's opening goal, Luis Argudo leveled for Columbus with his first MLS goal. Pedro Santos scored in the opening minute of the second half and again with six minutes remaining after Danny Royer leveled from the penalty spot.
