The San Jose Earthquakes hosted Liga MX side Cruz Azul in a midseason friendly at Avaya Stadium on Saturday, with the teams playing to a scoreless draw.
The game was notable on a few fronts for the Quakes youngsters on the roster. 16-year-old Homegrown midfielder Gilbert Fuentes started the match, his first with the first team.
And 20-year-old Eric Calvillo, who made his MLS debut last week, started in this game, something that was an emotional occasion for his father on Twitter.
And a familiar face on the night? Former Earthquakes midfielder Rafael Baca, who moved to Cruz Azul in 2014 and has racked up over 100 appearances for La Maquina after three seasons in San Jose, returned to the Bay Area, where he helped the Quakes win the 2012 Supporters' Shield.
